HATHA YOGA (gentle class)
The practice of yoga follows many paths that can be practised at any age or stage in your life. This ancient science can be an excellent tool to ease the stresses, aches and pains of modern day western life. Its purpose is to bring a deeper awareness and connection to the body, mind & breath, through postures (asanas), breath work (pranayama) and relaxation.
Yoga offers much more than physical exercise; it develops a peaceful awareness and a calm focused mind connecting the movement of the body with the rhythm of the breath.
The class held here at Dore and Totley United Reformed Church on Tuesday afternoons is a very gentle class that will steadily improve posture, balance, strength and joint mobility whilst learning to relax and attend to the breath.
The benefits of yoga are many and with practice your body will most likely become more flexible and so will your mind.
I have been teaching yoga for over 10 years and am a fully qualified and insured British Wheel of Yoga teacher & Yoga for healthy lower backs (YHLB). This class is part funded by Lifelong Learning (Sheffield City Council).
