Many thanks to those who supported the recent quizzes which raised £115 for Deaf Child Worldwide. The first was won by Clive Roper, a regular online supporter. The Fergusons were very close behind, stumped, as were many of the 60 others, by the anagram of Wotton-Under-Edge. Liz Walkden kindly took ownership of the ‘booby baton’ during Judith’s spell in hospital. The Christmas quiz had a record 48 correct entries and no one scored less than 96% so there will be no booby prize this time. The winner, drawn out of the hat, was Margaret Westwood. High scorers from church were Pete Clark, the Harrisons, and the Hollingworths all with 100%, followed by John Ferguson, Dorothy Land, Jane Studd, Liz Keech and the Spiers.
Other fund-raising events in October were the sale of refreshments at the Ladies’ Group meeting (£28), the safari supper (£133), and the quiz sheets which are still being sold.
The lunch in aid of Deaf Child Worldwide on Remembrance Sunday made £125.14. Thanks to those who supported it.
