Mindful Living is an 8 week Mindfulness programme based on the work of Jon Kabat Zinn & Mark Williams, it starts on Friday October 20th and will take place in the Church Hall. Participants will learn a series of mindful meditation practices to help reduce stress, restore well-being and calm negative mind chatter.
Mindfulness is all about learning to live more fully in the here and now by becoming acquainted with your patterns of thinking, anchoring yourself in the present moment and letting go of your self critic through the cultivation of of self-kindness and compassion.
As our world gets smaller, our lives get busier and our problems seem greater than ever, this age old practice is becoming very popular in the UK and is often used as an effective approach of helping to treat anxiety & depression, as well as managing pain an illness. Below is an NHS link which explains this in more detail…
Mindfulness can however be useful for anyone who would like to become more resilient in dealing with life’s challenges and bring a sense of calm and focus back in to their lives.
The course will run each Friday from 20th October until 8th December 2017 at 11.45 am to 1.45 pm and includes a one day workshop on Saturday 2nd December 2017. We will also hopefully be running the course again early next year, with practice days available for those who have been on the 8 week programme.
